Being an avid surfer and visual artist, custom surfboard painting has become one of my favorite forms of art expression. Listed here are some examples of my latest paintings. If you are interested in having a board painted, give me a call on my cel at (757) 439-0991 or contact me via e mail (see the "contact me" button on the back of the Volvo wagon on the main page.) Prices start at $300.00 through $1500.00, depending on the complexity of the design.

This board was shaped by my friend and surf buddy Steve Morris, a professional surfboard shaper who owns Fibercraft Inc. ("SAM" stands for his initals). Steve also airbrushed the green background, I then painted the face, fin and details. The price for this style and complexity of board painting - $450.00
I painted this board in November 2009 for a couple in Nags Head NC (for display in their beach house). The board itself was a junker that they bought at a yard sale for $25.00, and I then turned it into a piece of art. I was stoked that they wanted to go with the tiki motiff, as tikis are a favorite subject matter of mine in the surf art realm. A board painting of this style and detail runs in the $800.00 range.

I painted this board during the Steel Pier Classic Surfing Contest / Surf Art Expo in May '09. This board belongs to my son Daniel, and I painted it at my art booth / tent as a demonstration to the public. http://www.vbsurfartexpo.com/ A board painting of this complexity is $400.00

This is a side view of my tent at The Steel Pier Classic Art Show. I displayed my paintings, prints, skateboards and custom surfboard art. I also had a tent set up at The Neptune Festival in September with the same type of display. The following 2 photos are of me painting the Cordell board with Posca and Sharpie water based paint pens.
Close up photos of three boards that I painted for Steve Morris. The two of the left are in the $400.00 range, the one on the right is in the $600.00 range.
Three more surfboard paintings. I painted the one on the left as a demo at The Neptune Festival at the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, and the other two paintings were created via commision for my good friend and surf buddy Ben Thomas. The painting prices for these (similar designs) go for $700.00 (left), $1000.00 (middle), and $550.00 (right).
I painted this board in February for Austin Surfboards during their winter art show. A design of this complexity sells for $350.00
I've been wanting to paint a Jimi Hendrix portrait on a board for awhile, and had my chance in April during Austin Surfboards annual board swap. I painted this during the event, all while playing Jimi Hendrix music on the jam box. A board painting of this complexity goes for $550.00
These are the first three boards that I finished in 2011. A painting comparable in complexity to the one on the left runs around $350.00, the middle one $600.00, and the one on the right $1000.00 (The "Duke" portrait board on the right is painted with brushes and acrylic paint rather than the paint pen method).

This is a board that I painted at the end of December depicting Waikiki beach and Diamondhead. This board was painted in traditional manner with brushes and acrylic paint. A board painting of this level runs in the $1200.00 range.
I painted this longboard in March 2011. This board was painted with airbrush (for the green to light green undercoat fade) and acrylic paint pens.. A board painting of this level costs $600.00.
